[Activity] Make Your Own Soap

Make Your Own SoapOne of the fun hands-on activities at the Houston Mini Maker Faire will be learning how to make your own bars of soap with maker Lisa Chouinard. Using a glycerin base you can easily melt and pour, this project can be completed in a matter of minutes. You choose the color, fragrance and toy for your soap and pour it into a mold where it will cool and set. After the soap has set it is ready to use! Each person participating in this activity will go home with a completed soap, instruction sheet and reusable soap mold for future soapy projects. This is an easy, fun and creative project that is great for kids!

Lisa Chouinard has been making handmade artisanal soap since 2003. Her first candle-making kit quickly led to soapmaking, a passion which eventually led her to buy out the local craft store of every soapmaking mold, colorant, and fragrance they had in stock! Lisa’s work has been featured on HGTV, PBS and in numerous publications including the Houston Chronicle.
